At the end of the day today, my second graders requested to be able to speak to the class about how killing animals is bad and to recruit the first graders for making signs to post on trees (because people walk by trees). I couldn't pass up the chance to let a good conversation happen, so away they went. I wish I could have videotaped the conversation. I had several moments of smirking, but was quite impressed with the arguments on both sides of the issue. Some remarks were, "people can always find other food." and "people should have a good reason to kill animals!" My heart swelled for my little activists :)
I can't wait to see where this goes...
